Beautiful colours and detail, stands out from the nice background. I did not know that caterpillars had tails, looks quite funny :-)

This is a beautiful image Rey, I really like the colors and detail in this image. Caterpillars are very beautiful to photograph but we see so few of them. Thanks Rey :D

Thank you all for your nice comments.
I am also quite wondering what that little tail used for. Read some article that they used it to confused predatory birds from attacking that tail instead of the head. Also once they become Butterfly with hind wings, birds attacked that part so they can fly in the opposite direction. Don't know how true it is.
I really appreciate your precious comments but will be more glad if someone can further confirm me "What's that little tail for?

Kind regards,
Rey

I have no idea what that tail is for Rey. What I do know is that this is excellent !!. The colour is amazing and the details are wonderful to see. Extremely well taken and shows it at its best IMO. This is beautiful Rey. Love the lighting and the background.

All the best Rey, you certainly can shoot macro :D

Hi ya' Rey :D

Great looking image that will look super on our front cover of www.photomacrography.net for the next month! :D BTW, this is a caterpillar in the Family Sphingidae. That little tail can be curled and uncurled and is used to distract predators from the head of the caterpillar.

Best regards, :D

I love it!
but now I have to find out waht kind it is.

I think the "tail" is a mimic of something. what kind of plant was it on?
yellow flowers? I bet this caterpillar is poisonous too.
