This is the bigger cousin of the clegfly. I think it is called a deerfly. Tabanus bovinus. I cropped it to show the details.

Wim, that looks just like our Deerflies here in the USA. They really bug you when they fly around your head :x and when you do not hear them, it usually means they are on you somewere :shock: Very nice Wim.....

That last shot is killer Wim. :D I notice the eye patterns are much different here than in the other fly. :)

Great capture of the eyes.
These flies, about four different species, were driving me crazy while out photographing in Sweden this weekend.
I read somewhere that the females bite mamals, including humans, and suck blood. Quite anoying, but I really think they look so cool.
