Asplanchna with a skinproblem

Post by Wim van Egmond »

Ken, I'm away for a couple of days. This is posted tomorrow, o.k? Don't read this post now because otherwise I am exeeding the quota!

I found this Asplanchna, a bag-shaped predatory rotifer, completely covered with (probably) fungi. Or it could be rotifer puberty :)

The first picture is made with a 10X, the second with a 25X but cropped to a small part of the image to see more detail.

Could be spores of some kind Wim. I dunno. At first it looked like some sort of bacteria until I looked at your close up of them. Rotifers seem to be prone to fungal attacks. :D
