Thanks Paul. :D At first I did not know what kind of mushrooms they were. They are pretty when they pop up and I hardly give them a thought but this time, for some reason, they captured my interest, probably because they were so large. Having a Smithsonian field guide to mushrooms, I researched them...

Unusual Charlie, Jahns has a few that look similar but no match. Having plasmodia on my mind this time of year, I am inclined to think that it could be two fused amoeba instead of one. However who knows, maybe you have the formation of a new plasmodium going on there. The reason being is that ...

Sure is a spiney little critter there Doug. You seem to have knack for finding them. :D I only see them occasionally around here but its been so hot now, that most everything is beat down into the ground and hidding where they can find some cool comfort.

Well Doug I have heard reports on stuff that would grow hair on a rock but a poor feller like me can't afford those remedies. Yep that second image is pretty much what my hair may look like if the years continue, thin and gray. Thanks Doug. :D

First one of those I have ever seen. Usually I use a small piece of translucent plastic cut from a water jug and held in place by velcro over the flash lens. :D

I'm not very good at critiques there Darren but overall the photo is not bad. :D What I don't like is the background, to me it seems too bright and conflicts with the colors of the flower. Sharpness is another thing. The flower is naturally fuzzy it seems, so this really presents a problem for tryin...
