Here is a picture of an aphid busily sucking the juices out of one of my wife’s plants. The image was taken with a Coolpix 4500 on a Leica M420. The magnification is around 30x.

Hello Ron,

I'm not sure which side to be on - the aphids or Gwen's plants! I think I'll go with Gwen's side (still hoping for that Lietz logo scope cover.)

Actually very nice shot with theCP4500, good depth of field and excellent color rendition - what illumination did you use?

All the best,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the feedback.

I used a ringlight (reflected light) to illuminate the aphid. (So far diazanone has had little effect on these guys so Gwen's plants may lose the battle!)

Hi Ron--

Nice shot of the little parasites...can see the larger one's drilling right in...I'm firmly on the side of the roses...what kind of mutant organophosphate-resistant aphids have you been breeding up there? If the Diazanon isn't working, maybe your next shot should be the aphid being made into a squash preparation....
