Amphipleura pellucida, here a living one.

Post by Myriophyllum »

Hi,

some time ago, we saw some great photos of Amphipleura pellucida shells
by Jean Marc and others. Here are two pictures of a living one.

First without polarized light:

(Zeiss Standard, Planapo 40/0.95; S-Kpl 16x/12.5;
asymmetric Col with blue backround, slide film)

And using polarized light with my best resolving objective:

Stripes can be seen clearly, if you want to see them, even some dots appear ;-) ,
in fact that might be some film grain.

(Zeiss Standard, Planapo 63/1.40; S-Kpl 16x/12.5;
oblique lighting, crossed polarizers; slide film, two images)

Greetings

Jens
