Hi Linn!
Are you a macro photographer? Or one of "those guys" who use microscopes (that's cheating!)
What's your environmental interest?

well
I have not learned either very well.....
YET!
my microscope is not working very well and I would like to get a good one.
I just love science
bugs, critters etc
the woods, gardening, horticulture, botany, entomology, landscaping architecture, trees (love trees)
I have always been interested in ecology and preserving the enviroment. I love water biology too.
hey, is it ok to post about animals here too?

Mike asked:
Now who would do that?
Is it o.k. to post about animals? Well if someone knows me well enough, I suppose they could. If you do macrophotographs of them I suppose so.

Well, lynn, I will put it this way. You can post the eye of the cougar on here, or even his tongue, but the whole cougar will not fly. Now if it was your pet, you could share in the community forum
We do have member galleries, where you can post anything you want
http://www.macro-micro-members.net/, but the Macro/Micro forums are for just that "Macro and Micro".
I have been trying to get a cougar in the wild for years, with no luck.
After all that said - welcome to the forums.

I've talked to park rangers and such who have worked in "cougarish" areas for years and never seen one....I'm afraid that getting a good clear photograph of a cougar in the wild is almost as unusual as getting one of Bigfoot!

If you do see a wild one, this woman recommends you be careful in getting near it!

trust me
if I ever see one I will NOT go near it.
if it was say across the lake then i could get some shots. (of course couldnt post them as a macro)
but I doubt that would ever happen they see you you dont see them. any one remember Harry Black and the tiger?
he was waiting to get the tiger and the tiger was right above him unbeknownst to him.
Around here. three cougars ran in front of a woman in her car.
A cougar (got a video) came up on a back deck
and a horse was attached.
also a mystery killing that may have been a cougar or bear. Three border collies did not return home one night.
The next day, they found one of them. they had to put it to sleep as its nose was basicaly torn off.
the other two were never found. that was on our local news.

Sue asked:
Naw, I traded mine in years ago for a pick-up! We have Mountain Lions or Cougars, or what ever you want to call them, around here. Not to long ago some livestock were killed by one. The biggest thing now is the Red Wolves. They re-introduced them back into the mountains here. At one time NC was their natural home until man killed them off. Cyotes are beginning to be a problem here though.Hey, Ken..well, um..want to go look for a cougar
