Hello Charlie, I think there are still people out here but this must be a slow period. Personally I've been in Asia for the last few weeks and just got back so I have a lot of catching up to do. Your shot is (as usual) another beauty - you make these little critters almost attractive! Have to admit ...

Hello Ron,

I'm not sure which side to be on - the aphids or Gwen's plants! I think I'll go with Gwen's side (still hoping for that Lietz logo scope cover.)

Actually very nice shot with theCP4500, good depth of field and excellent color rendition - what illumination did you use?

All the best,
Mike

Rik, I sure hope these aren't the last! Really an excellent treatise on the mechanism they use and the photos are superb. In one way I wish you hadn't done this as now I have ANOTHER project I really want to try. Thanks for providing all the information and photos of your system - I've printed them ...

Hello Rik, You know the adage - 'a picture is worth a thousand words'! Now I understand; I was trying to imagine how the Edmunds lens was being used in the context of a compound microscope frame/trinocular setup. Very effective system and one I hope to try. Thanks for sharing this. All the best, Mike

Hello Rik, You should be pleased with this shot! Excellent definition - very well done. I'm interested in how you are doing this with the Canon 300D as I am currently working with a Nikon D200 trying to get direct projection onto the chip but my results are not satisfactory. I've been using a setup ...

Hello Charlie, It seems you have an endless supply of 'victims'! Great shots and we are all waiting for that book - I'd be willing to send in advance payment! Do you get your bugs nice and clean or do you put them through a cleaning process? All the best, Mike p.s. - I hope to have my system up and ...

Hello David, Two very nice shots! That PA 40X is working very well for you, indeed. How are you accomplishing the oblique? I assume these were done on the Orthoplan. Howerver you did it, it really looks very DIC'ish and I'd like to give it a try. All the best, Mike p.s. - thanks for the fluorescence...

Hello Gerd, Beautiful shots! I especially like the neutral color of the background and the natural colors of the subjects. Great detail work. I don't believe you violated any listing controls as the number was extended to 3 photos a while back. Hope the planting is going well - did the weather final...

Hello David,

These are really nice shots!

If you have some extra truffles (the unstained, unfixed variety) I know a good use for them - just send them over this way.

All the best,
Mike

Hello Gerd,

Really nice shots. It appears you are using two different techniques - top one being BF and the bottom DIC, both very well done.

Hope it's starting to warm up a bit - I was in Frankfurt a few weeks ago and it was wet and cold, not much of a spring.

All the best,
Mike

Hello Charlie (and David), Brilliant! After you show how it's done, it looks so simple; the difficulty is figuring it out in the first place. No doubt your background in photography has allowed you to come up with a lot of these ideas from long experience and many trials and errors. I expect there w...

Hello Charlie, I really wish you would tell us how you agonized over getting the lighting right, making any number of bad shots, and various other problems before finally, in the wee hours of the morning, getting a few good images to stack! Shots like this are what most dream of making, yet I get th...
